Georgia
Georgia, one of former Soviet Union Republics,
is a Eurasian country in the Caucasus located at the east coast of the Black Sea. It is bordered by Russia,
Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is a
transcontinental country, located in the transitional, mountainous Caucasus
region of Eurasia.
Georgia was under Russia control since1783. Under
British protection, Georgia
experienced a brief independent between 1918 and1920. It fell back to Russia in 1921 and was incorporated into the
Trans-Caucasian SFSR uniting Georgia,
Armenia and Azerbaijan. The
TFSSR was disaggregated into its component elements in 1936 and Georgia became
the Georgian SSR. Georgia declared independence in 1991.
Georgia was the second state to adopt
Christianity as an official state religion after Armenia in the 4th century A.D.
